Morning Skincare Routine

This week is skincare week on Curls and Collages! Three posts looking at my morning skincare routine, evening skincare routine and special masks and treatments.

Let's kick things off with my morning skincare routine. I like to wash my face in the shower in the morning (I know that's supposed to be bad for your skin, but it saves sooooo much time and I never put my face directly under the hot water). For this I use the Super Facialist Vitamin C Cleansing Oil as it smells like oranges which is a nice wake-you-up scent for first thing in the morning. I actually decant mine into a pump bottle as I find the opening far too big and end up wasting far too much product. One pump of this rubbed onto dry skin before I jump into the shower, then I rub it in with a tiny amount of water and remove with a flannel. Clean, refreshed skin in no time.

When I get out of the shower, I use a spray toner to re-hydrate my skin and the one I love the most is the Lush Tea Tree Toner Water. I tend to use about four or five spritzes to cover my whole face and then leave it to dry before adding anything else. I find that most spray toners are great, but I have a lot more redness if I don't use this one. I really hope that Lush never ever discontinue it.

Onto moisturisation (is that even a word?) next. I like to start with my eye cream, and the one I am currently using is the Kiehls Creamy Avocado Eye Treatment. I was primarily looking for a moisturising eye cream, I didn't want anti-ageing or anything like that, just something that would moisturise the skin enough that my concealer would stop creasing, and this has done the job perfectly. It is quite a strange consistency at first, you need to take a tiny bit onto the ends of your ring fingers and rub them together to warm it up a little, then apply under the eyes where it turns from a creamy constancy to a watery one! It is a bit bizarre the first time you use it, but the amount of moisture it delivers is more than worth it.

To moisturise the rest of my face, I've been using the Origins Make A Difference Plus moisturiser, which I absolutely love and have raved about a few times on here already. I have an oily T-zone and the rest of my face can hget very dry. I was on the verge of giving up and using two different moisturisers for different areas before I found this. It controls the oil where it needs to and hydrates my dry patches really well. It's great to have one product that balances my whole face, I can definitely see myself purchasing this again.

See you again on Thursday for my evening skincare routine.

What products do you like to use in the morning?
