An afternoon in Glasgow

On the recent Bank Holiday I spent a lovely afternoon out and about in Glasgow with David. Firstly we went to the No. 1 Chocolate Factory, a cafe in the Charing Cross area where they make their own chocolate and run children's and group events within the factory. We had been once before for a coffee but this time we treated ourselves to afternoon tea, using a voucher we picked up from itison.

We started by picking a drink each, I went for a latte while David picked Glasgow Fog, an Earl Grey blend flavoured with vanilla and coconut which was lovely, but very very sweet. As we sipped on our drinks the stand of food arrived, and it looked fabulous! The bottom tier was full of tiny sandwiches with various fillings, the second tier had bite-sized portions of different cakes made using the delicious chocolate made on the premises, and the top tier had fantastic mini chocolate chip scones with some jam and clotted cream. We were stuffed after eating all of that, but it wasn't even the end, as the plates were cleared away we were brought a shot of incredibly rich hot chocolate, which looked tiny to start with but it was actually so rich it was hard to finish! We had such a lovely time there and enjoyed every bite and fantastic value as we had the voucher for it, we would definatley go back again.

After all that sugar we needed a bit of exercise to work it all off. We took a walk up towards and then along the River Kelvin, stopping to watch the squirrels play along the riverbank, and along to the Botanic Gardens where we spent a little while wandering around looking at all the fabulous plants and took in the surrounding statues and decorations; how amazing are the squirrel panels on the benches? After this we had a nice stroll in the sunshine back to the city centre, what a perfect way to spend the Bank Holiday!

What did you get up to over the long weekend?
